Bridge Course For Students of Spanish*

 

Overview of the Bridge Course Spanish program

This program provide students of Spanish 1 the opportunity to revisit grammar concepts in order that they are prepared for high school Spanish 2. Through both fun activities and formal lessons, students will review Spanish concepts such as essential Spanish expressions, verb conjugation, concordance, numbers, essential verbs, interrogatives, basic vocabulary (food, traveling, sports, clothes, family, school), culture, and other topics typically studied at the Spanish 1 level. Activities include formal lecture, games, skits, worksheet activities, video viewings and song listening activities.

*Please note that it is not required to attend all sessions of this course, as the structure of this curriculum will allow for students to attend on a drop-in basis. However, regardless of number of sessions that student attends, full tuition cost applies.

Prerequisites

In order to be accepted in this program, the student must have already taken a Spanish 1 course.

A maximum of 8 students can be accepted for each section of this course. Limited space available.

 

Objective of the Bridge Course Spanish program

  • Clarify and/or fortify understanding of Spanish 1 concepts
  • Expand knowledge of culture and history of Spanish speaking world
  • Expand Spanish vocabulary knowledge in common themes

 

Meeting Dates

Tuesdays/Thursdays, 1 pm to 3 pm, July 9 to August 8 (20 hours total)

Textbook, info/activities booklet, handouts, access to audio tracks, password online activity access

 

Class Structure (To top)

One quiz per each session, midterm at midpoint level, final exam on second to last session.

Students receive a completion certificate if he/she scores an 80% or higher on final exam.

Last day during last hour students will be treated to catered lunch and a Spanish language video.

 

Tuition (To top)

$325.00 includes info/activities manual, snacks, 1 audio CD, and password access to internet tutorials.
